Nova Health Provider Profile

Rich Hamblin PA-C

“What I love most about practicing medicine is the ability to change people’s lives for the better. Sometimes you can really do that for someone. You can save their life or really make a difference for them. Then they sometimes come back to you and thank you, which really makes a difference in how I view my work.”

Rich Hamblin brings Nova Health over seventeen years of experience as a licensed physician assistant, focusing on primary care for family practices in underserved communities. He is known for his compassion, appreciation for all cultures and backgrounds, and his exceptional quality of care. Rich’s experience working in various clinical settings allows him to diagnose and treat a wide variety of onset, chronic, and complex conditions, illnesses, and injuries. He is committed to every patient and educating them on their risk factors and causes of any conditions or illnesses. His collaborative approach to care has proven time and again to result in the best possible patient outcomes. “I have always enjoyed working in medicine and have done so most of my life, first as an X-ray porter, then as a dialysis technician, then as an EMT on an ambulance before deciding to go further in my schooling as an advanced medical provider.”

Rich has always had a natural inclination to help those in need and foster healthy lifestyles. “I used to raise ostriches years ago for fun and rescue seals and sea lions that were sick or injured.” After earning his bachelor’s degree from Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California, Rich graduated from the Bouve College of Health Sciences, an accredited physician assistant master’s program at Northeastern University in Massachusetts. He began his clinical career as a EMT and a hemodialysis technician at a Kidney Dialysis Center in Napa, California. He then served as a certified physician assistant in both family medicine and urgent care settings in several medical practices throughout Oregon before joining Nova Health.

Rich’s best health advice for his patients is simple. “Always watch your weight and keep it under control. Many chronic medical problems are related to obesity and can be avoided if you

keep your weight under control.”  Rich enjoys collecting first edition rare books and nature history items like fossils and antiquities when not caring for his patients. He also likes hiking, boating, and skiing.”
