Nova Health Provider Profile
“What I love most about practicing medicine is building long-term relationships with my patients and helping them to live happier and healthier lives.”
As a Nova Health physician focused on family medicine, Dr. Rachel Nosce maintains expertise in a broad range of primary care disciplines, including adult and pediatric medicine, preventive care, and the treatment of ongoing chronic conditions. Understanding that the development of personal, patient-physician relationships is integral to collaborative, successful health care, Dr. Nosce aims to foster long-term, trusted relationships with every patient. “What I love about practicing broad spectrum family medicine is that I get to know my patients throughout their entire lifespan, and earn the right to be a trusted advisor during times of health and illness for the entire family.”
Dr. Nosce fosters open dialogue with her patients in which she listens, asks questions, discusses treatment options, and never ends a session until she is sure her patients are comfortable with prescribed next steps. Dr. Nosce believes that to provide optimal medical care, one must consider the entire patient holistically, including their mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. Whether a patient is seeking a routine screening, follow-up after an acute illness, or collaboration on an ongoing treatment plan, Dr. Nosce treats every patient from a foundation of compassion and understanding.
Dr. Nosce earned her doctor of medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and completed her family medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. “I had a fascination with biology when I was younger, and have always enjoyed people and teaching. Those were the reasons I was inspired to become a doctor.”
Dr. Nosce’s advice to her patients is to take an active role in their health care. “Find a way to exercise regularly. It helps everything—your mood, heart, bones, and memory.” When not treating her patients, Dr. Nosce can be found saving other types of lives. “My family and I regularly foster kittens. It is so fun!” Dr. Nosce also enjoys gardening, being in nature, watching plays, and being with her family. She lives in Eugene with her spouse and two daughters.
