Christy Hakala has worked in primary care for over 23 years. It is a lifelong commitment that was inspired by her mother. “My mom, Glenna Clemens, was a nurse and taught at Lane Community College here in town. Her example made me very interested in medicine and in helping others.” In her role as a certified physician assistant, Christy is responsible for collaborating with other Nova Health physicians and care providers to provide quality and compassionate medical care to her patients. Christy helps to diagnose and treat illnesses, perform physical exams, and work with her patients on the creation and follow through of treatment plans to help improve symptoms associated with chronic conditions. “I love working in family practice and helping all ages achieve the best health possible. What I love most about practicing medicine is working with patients to diagnose and find treatment plans tailored to their specific needs.”

Kristen earned her nursing degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. When not caring for her patients, she enjoys biking, hiking, camping, reading, gardening, and spending time with family. She is married with a daughter and lives in Eugene.
