As a family nurse practitioner at Nova Health with nearly 20 years of experience caring for a wide variety of chronic, clinical, and on-set patient needs, Brandy Hogg-Duncan brings an elevated level of knowledge and insight to our patient community. She provides a wide range of family-focused treatmentto patients of all ages and needs and has dedicated experience in the areas of women’s health with a midwifery focus. She maintains patient records, performs exams, orders diagnostic tests, develops treatment plans, prescribes medications, and ensures she answers every one of her patients’ questions at the end of every visit.

Brandy was inspired to pursue a career in health care from a young age. “In High School, I was intrigued by biology and human anatomy. I knew then I wanted to study the science of nursing.

In nursing school, I was in awe of the roots and honorable historical value of the nursing profession in healthcare.”

Brandy holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University, a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from Walden University, and a post-master’s level education with a focus in Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University. She began her career as a Cardiac floor LPN and later advanced to a Registered Nurse, working at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio, in the hospital’s obstetrics and gynecology unit. She then worked for three years at the Wayne County Health Department in Indiana, caring for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, specializing in childhood vaccine administration. For the next four years, she helped mentor and inspire the next generation of nurses while working as a nursing instructor at Ivy Tech College in Indiana. During that time, she taught all of the program’s didactic, lab, and clinical courses. From 2017 to 2019, Brandy worked at Indiana University Health, at a clinic for local public-school affiliates and their dependents. During that time, she assessed, diagnosed, and treated urgent and primary care needs.

Before she joined Nova Health, Brandy worked as a family nurse practitioner at Cottage Urgent Care in Santa Barbara, California. In her role, she treated a variety of minor patient illnesses and illnesses. Conditions treated included cold and flu symptoms, scrapes, minor cuts, sore throats, ear pain, UTIs, fevers, sprains, sports physicals, allergies, headaches, minor burns and bruises, minor fractures, and skin complaints. During this time, Brandy also treated patients via telemedicine via Cottage Health’s CareNow service. In this format, she provided written and virtual care and treatment plans for common diagnoses such as respiratory and viral illnesses, head, ears, eyes, nose, and throat (HEENT) exams, insect bites, female health needs, medication refills, tobacco cessation counseling, and sexual health care.

Brandy brings a focused commitment and experience caring for the unique needs of the LGBTQ and BIPOC communities to our patient community. She offers simple advice to her patients. “Envision your best health and work to attain it with every resource available to you. If you don’t have or know the resource, ask for help.” When not caring for her patients, Brandy stays busy traveling, sitting by the ocean, spending time with her family, and embracing art, music, and nature. She lives in Eugene with her spouse. Together they have six children, three dogs, a cat and a newly acquired carnival fish.
